General tips for classroom use

Technological requirements/suggestions

To view the media that comprise the bulk of this site, your students will require a relatively modern computer with a decent connection to the internet (minimum 28.8 kbps) and web browsing software installed. The video segments all require additional software plugins that are freely available on the internet. A faster connection to the internet, faster computers, and more memory (RAM) will all make the experience more interesting for your students.

Because of the multimedia nature of this site, it may be difficult for an entire class to view the streaming video simultaneously. To avoid this problem, you might download all the video segments before class, or ask your students to view a lower-quality downloaded version that will download more quickly.
